As cofounder and Chairman of Oxford Entrepreneurs, Bob is a leading contributor to the recent rise in entrepreneurialism at UK universities. Having set up profitable design and publishing companies as an undergraduate, he began a sabbatical from his masters degree in April 2004 when headhunted by PayPal cofounder Max Levchin to help start consumer technology companies at his San Francisco incubator, Midtown Doornail. Bob advises a number of student start-ups and welcomes contact from OE members.

Kaori did her undergraduate work looking at deployable structures in nature (things that fold away, such as a leaf in a bud), and her masters degree in medical equipment. While studying stents she visited a Japanese art exhibition and saw an origami fir cone, modelled to open and close. Inspired by this Kaori developed an original origami pattern to create a new type of “stent”.

My inspiration for designing lingerie came from living in Rome and Paris, and realising that sensuality for many European women is something integrated into ordinary life; wearing beautiful lingerie is a daily ritual. This is evident in the multitude of independent lingerie stores that one can find on practically every block in Paris and Rome.

Occupation: Innovation Manager, NHS
After completing his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Tahsin researched for a Ph.D in the same field at Imperial College, London. He semi-commercialised the equipment he developed and several versions were purchased by various clients globally. He then took up a position as a Research Associate at Imperial developing practical solutions for clients in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Anita Roddick is undoubtedly one of the most inspirational entrepreneurs in the world. Worth an estimated £69 million her success stemmed from her desire to create a livelihood for herself and her two daughters, and thus The Body Shop was born in 1976.
