Robert J C de Crespigny AC founded the Normandy Mining group in 1985 and built it to become Australia’s largest gold mining unit until its acquistion for about US$4 Billion in 2002. Between then and early 2006 he was the Chairman of the Economic Development Board of South Australia; between 2000 and 2004 he was also Chancellor of the University of Adelade. He was made a Champanion of the Order of Australia, Australias highest honour, in 2002.
He will discuss: the key features on the mining industry; the drivers behind the current bull run in commodities; a company’s value creation curve over the life cycle of mine development; the deal-oriented nature of mining management teams, and why the mining industry is producing hundreds of entrepreneurs.
All welcome, no registration necessary.
This event is organised by the Oxford Science Enterprise Centre and will be held at the Said Business School
